Role Overview
Mehermedics is seeking Consultant Geriatricians for hospital partner placements. You will lead multidisciplinary assessment and management of complex older patients admitted through acute, elective and community pathways. This senior medical role requires fellowship-level training in geriatrics, a deep understanding of frailty, dementia, polypharmacy and end-of-life care, and the leadership capability to drive service quality and train junior medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead comprehensive geriatric assessments (CGAs) in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Manage conditions including delirium, frailty, falls, cognitive impairment and complex polypharmacy
• Chair multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate rehabilitation, discharge planning and ongoing community support
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to registrars, junior doctors and allied health staff
• Contribute to hospital-wide frailty, dementia and end-of-life care improvement programmes
• Engage in teaching, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements & Qualifications
• Primary medical degree (MBBS / MD or equivalent) plus subspecialty fellowship in Geriatric Medicine
• Full specialist registration with the relevant medical board
• Minimum 3 years post-fellowship consultant or attending experience
• Demonstrated expertise in complex discharge planning and community-hospital interface
• Strong leadership, communication and academic credentials
